1. Driver Education Course Completion Certificate
To qualify for the Notice of Driver Education Course Completion Certificate, students must meet all of the following requirements:
- Attend and complete the classroom portion (in-person or online) with a passing grade of 80% or higher PLUS complete a minimum of 10 hours of in-vehicle training with a passing grade of 75% or higher.
- Class 7 learner’s licence holders and Class 5 GDL licence holders must successfully complete: 15 hours of classroom instruction (in-person or online) and a minimum of 10 hours of in-vehicle driving lessons.
- Class 5 Full (Non-GDL) licence holders must successfully complete: 15 hours of classroom instruction (in-person or online) and a minimum of 6 hours of in-vehicle driving lessons.
2. Course Duration & Deadlines
- The Notice of Driver Education Course Completion Certificate Program expires two years from registration. You must complete the classroom portion and driving lessons within 2 years of registration.
- Classroom instruction (in-person or online) must be completed before beginning in-vehicle driving lessons.
- The online classroom portion of your driver training must be completed within 60 days of starting your course.
- All in-vehicle training hours must be completed within 6 months from the date of registration. A penalty of $50 will be charged to resume driving lessons after 6 months.
3. Switching Learning Format
- Switching from in-person to online classroom learning after starting in-person learning will result in a fee.
- Switching from online to in-person classroom learning after starting the online learning will result in a fee.
- You are allowed two (2) attempts to retake the classroom knowledge exam if you fail. If you do not pass after these attempts, you must complete the classroom course again before you can take the exam again. A payment of $100 will be charged for re-enrollment.
4. Driving Lessons and Scheduling
- ROAD TRAINING IS PROVIDED IN TESLA DRIVING SCHOOL VEHICLES ONLY.
- You are required to bring your driver’s or learner’s licence to all in-class and in-vehicle driving lessons. Failure to do so will result in lesson cancellation and a $50 penalty fee.
- The pick-up and drop-off location will be the same as mentioned in the registration.
- Any change in location should be discussed with the driving instructor prior to scheduling lessons.
- Tesla Driving School reserves the right to reschedule or change training sessions with notice in case of emergency and/or risk of safety due to weather, road conditions etc.
5. Lesson Cancellation Policy
- A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel a driving lesson.
- A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to reschedule a driving lesson. You must contact your driving instructor directly to reschedule.
- Failure to provide adequate notice will result in a $50 cancellation fee.
6. Traffic Violations
- Any traffic violations during the road test or road training that occur because of your actions will be your responsibility to pay.
7. Vehicle for Road Test
- A school vehicle for the road test is not included in the standard package and will require a rental fee. Please contact your driving instructor for vehicle availability before booking your road test.
- You may rent the school vehicle only for your road test. The vehicle must be returned immediately after the road test is completed.
- You will be held responsible to pay any traffic violations acquired during the road test.
- You are eligible for a one (1) time free car rental for the road test if you have purchased the 20 hours in-vehicle training + 15 hours classroom course.
- You must contact your driving instructor in advance to confirm vehicle availability for the road test. If you choose not to use the booked vehicle, no refund will be provided.
8. Student Records & Certificates
- Student records are kept for 2 years in accordance with Alberta Transportation policy.
- The school is not responsible for records after this period.
- A fee will be applied for duplicate copies of a certificate.
9. Audio/Video Recording Policy
- All driving lessons will be recorded using audio and video to ensure the safety of both students and instructors and for quality assurance.
10. Payment and Refund Policy
- Full payment is required at the time of registration.
- If driving lessons have started, $50 per hour plus GST will be charged for completed lessons, and the remaining balance will be refunded (hourly rates vary by package and location).
- If classroom training (in-person or online) has started or been completed, $100 will be deducted from the refund.
- If a student withdraws from the course, a $50 administration fee will be deducted, and the remaining balance will be refunded.
- The full course must be completed within 6 months of registration. No refunds will be made after 6 months.
Tesla driving school may update or change accepted payment methods at any time. It also reserves the right to modify payment plans or programs, or to remove a student from any plan or program. Courses and programs may change without notice. If you have not completed your current course, you may be required to restart it to meet any new mandatory requirements.
